    How mobile lettering works

    STEP 1

    Call or send a photo

Tell us the vehicle, the wording and roughly when you need it. A photo of the truck answers most of our questions in one shot.

    STEP 2

    Approve the proof

We lay the design out on a template of your actual vehicle and send it back for approval. Nothing is cut until you say yes.

    STEP 3

    We come to you

We arrive at your yard or job site with everything needed, prep the panels and apply the graphics. Most jobs are done while the truck stays parked at your yard.

    What to send us

    • A photo of the vehicle, from the side
    • Make, model and body length if you know it
    • The wording you want on it
    • Any logo files you already have
    • How many vehicles
    • When you need it done

If you do not have any of that, call anyway. A two-minute conversation usually gets us what we need, and we would rather talk it through than have you guess at a form.

    What actually affects the price

Four things move a lettering quote. Vehicle size and body type come first, because a pickup with two doors and a tailgate is a fraction of the panel area of a twenty-four-foot box truck. Coverage is second: name and number on the doors is a different job from full-side layouts with a logo, a service list and a website. Third is the material — flat-color cut vinyl is the most economical route, while a logo with gradients, photographs or fine detail needs digital print, which costs more per square foot. Fourth is quantity, and this one works in your favor: several trucks in one visit is meaningfully cheaper per vehicle than the same trucks lettered one at a time on separate days.

Wraps price differently because material and labor both scale with coverage. A partial wrap concentrated on the rear quarters and doors captures most of the attention a full wrap would, at a fraction of the cost, and for a lot of small fleets it is the honest recommendation. We will tell you when lettering alone would achieve what you are actually after — talking a customer into a full wrap they did not need is a good way to lose the next twenty years of their business.

    Why a photo is enough

A single side-on photo of the vehicle tells us the body type, the usable panel area, where the seams and handles fall, the paint color the graphics have to contrast against, and whether there is a ladder rack or box in the way. That is almost everything needed to price the job. Add the wording you want and roughly when you need it, and you will get a real number rather than a range with a question mark on the end.

For fleets, photos of two or three representative vehicles are enough to price the whole rollout, because we quote by body type and then multiply. If your trucks are already lettered and you are matching a new one, a photo of an existing vehicle is the fastest possible brief — we work from it directly.

Turnaround and what happens on the day

Small jobs and compliance lettering can usually be fitted around larger bookings. Wraps take longer, because the artwork has to be designed and proofed before anyone arrives at your yard. Fleet batches are planned with you around your operation. Call 973-214-2292 for the next open date.

On the day, we arrive with the vinyl already cut or printed. The panels get washed and degreased, the layout is measured and positioned, and the film is squeegeed down and sealed. A pickup is typically two to three hours. Nothing needs to be dropped off, nothing stays overnight, and the truck goes back to work as soon as we are finished. If old graphics need to come off first, that happens in the same visit.

We don’t cut corners — premium materials only

What happens after you send the form

We reply with a real price. Not a range and not a call-to-discuss — a number, based on the photographs you send and the wording you want.

To do that we need three things: photographs of the vehicle from the side and rear, the exact wording including phone number and any USDOT number, and the town the vehicle lives in. The photographs matter most — they tell us the panel sizes, the body lines, the condition of the paint and whether there is old film to remove.

If something about the job would change the price materially and we cannot see it in the photographs, we will ask before quoting rather than quote low and revise later.

    • Photos of the vehicle — side and rear at minimum.
    • The exact wording you want on it.
    • Your USDOT number if the vehicle needs one.
    • The town where the vehicle is kept.
    • Any deadline you are working to.

    Quote questions

How quickly will I hear back?

As soon as we can. If you need an answer right away, call 973-214-2292.

    Is the quote binding?

The price we send is the price for the work described. If you change the scope afterwards we re-quote; we do not revise on arrival.

Do you charge for the visit?

No. Travel within our eight-county service area is included.

Can I get a quote without photographs?

We can give a rough indication, but the accurate number comes from seeing the vehicle. Photographs take a minute and save both of us a conversation.

    What actually drives the price

Four things, in roughly this order: how much area gets covered, how complicated the surface is, how many colors and how much design work the artwork needs, and how many vehicles are done in one visit. Nothing about it is mysterious, and none of it changes after you have agreed a number.

Area is the obvious one and the least interesting. A pair of door decals and a full rear-panel graphic differ mostly in material and cutting time. The jump in price between lettering and a wrap is not the vinyl — it is the hours.

Surface complexity is where the hours actually go. A flat van side is quick. Rivets, corrugation, deep body creases, door handles, rubbing strips and compound curves all slow application down and demand better film. A box truck with a smooth aluminum side and a stake-body flatbed with the same square footage are not the same job.

Color count and the state of your artwork come next. Cut vinyl in two colors is straightforward; a printed graphic with photographs and gradients is a print job with different economics. If you already have usable artwork — a real vector file rather than a logo pulled off a website — you skip design time. If you do not, we will draw it, and that is a line on the quote rather than a surprise.

Quantity works in your favor. Setup, travel and design are done once for a fleet of twelve the same way they are done once for a single truck, so the per-vehicle number falls sharply. That is the whole argument for lettering a fleet in one visit rather than as each vehicle happens to be free.

What to send so the quote is accurate the first time

A photograph of each side of the vehicle, the year, make and model, and whatever artwork you already have. With those three things a quote is usually a firm number rather than a range.

A photograph taken square on to the panel is worth more than a description. It shows us the rivets, the trim, the door seams and the existing graphics in one go, and it is the difference between a quote we can hold and a quote that changes when we arrive.

    • A photograph of the driver’s side, passenger side and rear, taken square on rather than at an angle.
    • Year, make, model and body type — a 2019 Transit 250 high roof is a different panel from a 2019 Transit Connect.
    • Any existing graphics, including ones you want removed. Decal removal is its own line.
    • Your logo in the best file you have. A vector file (.ai, .eps, .pdf, .svg) needs no redraw; a screenshot does.
    • The text that has to appear: business name, phone, website, license numbers, USDOT number.
    • How many vehicles, and whether they are in one place.
    • Where the vehicles will be when we come, and the hours we can work there.

    From quote to finished vehicle

Quote, proof, schedule, fit. Most single-vehicle jobs run from first contact to lettered truck inside a week, and the vehicle itself is usually tied up for part of one day.

The proof stage is the one worth taking seriously. Seeing the design on a drawing of your own vehicle is when people notice that the phone number is too small to read from the next lane, or that the tagline disappears behind a ladder rack. Changing it then costs nothing.
